Hero MotoCorp’s electric brand, Vida, has achieved its strongest-ever year. As per Vahan retail data, Vida recorded 1,00,383 electric scooter sales between January 1 and December 5, 2025, marking the company’s first calendar year to cross the one-lakh milestone.

With this, Vida’s total cumulative sales since its launch in October 2022 have crossed 1.5 lakh units, signalling strong market acceptance and customer trust.

Vida’s sharp rise in 2025 was driven by two big factors — the launch of its family-focused VX2 and an aggressive, value-oriented pricing strategy.

VX2: The Biggest Growth Driver of 2025

The most important catalyst for Vida’s surge in the second half of the year was the Vida VX2, launched in July 2025. Positioned as a simple, practical electric scooter for families, the VX2 brought two big advantages over the earlier V2 model.

Read Also

1. Family-Friendly, Familiar Design

Unlike the sportier V2, the VX2 adopts a traditional scooter shape — something Indian families strongly prefer. This immediately broadened Vida’s customer base.

2. Game-Changing BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) Pricing

Vida’s BaaS model has been a breakthrough move. Customers pay only for the vehicle and subscribe to the battery separately.

This reduced the VX2’s entry price to almost petrol-scooter territory:

  • VX2 Go (BaaS): ~₹44,990
One of the most affordable electric scooters in India when purchased with BaaS.

VX2 Battery Options

  • VX2 Go: Single 2.2 kWh removable battery
  • VX2 Plus: Dual 3.4 kWh removable batteries
  • Real-world range: Up to 100 km

The combination of practicality, removable batteries, and affordable pricing brought thousands of new buyers into Vida showrooms.

Vida’s Market Momentum & Climb in 2025

After a slow start to the year, Vida’s sales began rising steadily — and accelerated rapidly post the VX2 launch.

Key Sales Highlights

  • Best-ever month: October 2025 with 16,017 units
  • Market share (CY2025): 8% of India’s 1.19 million EV two-wheeler market
  • Rank movement: From No. 7 in January to No. 4 by November
  • Vida even overtook Ola Electric in monthly retail sales during late 2025.

Why Vida Succeeded in 2025

Vida’s performance did not happen by chance. The brand’s strategy resonated with both first-time EV buyers and value-focused family customers.

What Worked for Vida

  • Affordable entry pricing with BaaS
  • Family-oriented VX2 design
  • Practical removable battery setup
  • Improved dealership network
  • Strong after-sales support
  • Rising customer trust in Hero MotoCorp’s EV ecosystem

With more products under development, including new variants of the VX2 and future mid-performance EVs, Vida is rapidly evolving from a challenger to a serious market leader.

Final Thoughts

Vida’s breakout sales performance in 2025 proves that Indian EV buyers are responding strongly to practical design, smart pricing, and flexible ownership models. The VX2 and its BaaS pricing strategy have clearly played the biggest role in this growth.
