Pulsar 150 Sun Faded Speedometer Before and after

A Pulsar 150 sun-faded speedometer is one of the most common issues we repair at Gadi Garage. These older Pulsar digital meters lose clarity quickly when exposed to continuous sunlight, and eventually the display becomes so pale that nothing is visible except the backlight.

Today’s case was exactly that.
A customer visited our Chennai workshop with his Pulsar 150 meter in hand, worried that the display had gone completely blank.

Customer’s Concern: “Only the blue light is glowing… nothing else.”

The customer explained:

“Bro, the meter lights up, but I cannot see the speed, fuel, or anything. Only the blue glow is visible.”

This is a classic sign of a fully faded Pulsar 150 display.

He thought he needed a brand-new meter, but the price of new units is high.
So he asked the most important question:

“Can this be restored without replacing the entire meter?”

Yes — it could.

Initial Condition: Total Display Washout

When we examined the meter, the damage was clear:

  • Entire screen fully faded
  • No numbers or symbols visible
  • Display turned pale white
  • Backlight glowing without any information
  • Meter body showing age and heat stress

Older Pulsar meters fade aggressively when parked under harsh sunlight, especially in open parking.

How Gadi Garage Restored the Pulsar 150 Sun-Faded Speedometer

Once the customer agreed to the service, we started the repair.

1. Careful Disassembly of the Meter

We opened the meter housing gently to avoid damage to the old plastic.
Inside, the display showed heavy sun exposure marks, but the motherboard was still healthy.

2. Internal Cleaning and Heat Damage Removal

Years of heat cause dust, dullness, and discoloration inside the display panel.
We cleaned and refreshed all internal layers to improve clarity and power flow.

3. Restoring Screen Visibility

This was the main task.

We worked on correcting the brightness and contrast of the faded display.
Slowly, the meter began to respond, and the information started to appear again.

4. Backlight Correction

The blue backlight was too strong due to sun fade.
We stabilized the lighting so that the display became perfectly readable, both day and night.

5. Reassembling and Sealing

Once the display clarity was restored, we sealed the meter properly and reassembled it with care to prevent future heat or moisture issues.

Final Result: A Clear, Bright, Fully Working Display

As soon as we powered it on, the customer’s reaction said everything.

“Bro… this is exactly what I needed. It looks new again.”

The Pulsar 150 meter was now:

  • Clear
  • Bright
  • Fully readable
  • Uniform and stable
  • Working like a fresh OEM display

And the cost was far lower than replacing the meter with a new one.

Why Pulsar 150 Meters Fade Over Time

  • Long-term sun exposure
  • Heat damage from daily outdoor parking
  • Ageing internal components
  • Weak display layer
  • Light diffusion problems

If ignored, the display eventually goes fully blank.

Apache 160 Meter Looked Completely Dead After Water Damage — Here’s How We Saved It

Apache 160 meter Before And After

Today at Gadi Garage, we received an Apache 160 digital meter that looked completely dead after severe water damage. The customer arrived with a simple request:

“Bro, if you can save this meter, please do it. I don’t want to buy a new one.”

The older Apache 160 model uses a digital speedometer that is extremely sensitive to moisture. Once water enters the meter and stays inside, it can burn the internal circuits very quickly.

In this case, the meter wasn’t just affected — it was heavily damaged and several components on the motherboard were burnt.

Still, the customer wanted the original meter restored, and we decided to take up the challenge.

How the Problem Started

The bike was left outside during heavy rain. The next morning, the meter stopped responding.

The customer noticed:

  • No display
  • No backlight
  • Meter not turning ON
  • Only a slight flicker before going completely dead

He didn’t know how bad things were inside — but once we opened it, the condition became clear.

Inside the Meter: Severe Water Damage on Every Layer

When we dismantled the meter, we found:

  • Water traces throughout the display section
  • Burnt marks on multiple motherboard components
  • Shorted ICs
  • Corroded and loose connectors
  • Several broken circuit tracks

Water had stayed inside long enough to cause electrical burns and shorts across the board.

Many mechanics would call this meter “non-repairable,” but at Gadi Garage, we always attempt restoration before recommending replacement.

How We Restored the Apache 160’s Dead Meter

1. Removing All Water and Cleaning the Meter Internally

We started by completely removing moisture, rust, and corrosion from all internal parts.

2. Burnt Motherboard Component Repair

This was the most challenging part of the restoration.

We repaired:

  • Burnt resistors and capacitors
  • Shorted IC areas
  • Damaged power supply tracks
  • Broken copper lines

Several components had to be replaced and resoldered precisely.

3. Fixing Corroded Joints

Corrosion weakens signal flow, so we refreshed and rebuilt all damaged joints to stabilise the board.

4. Display and Backlight Revival

Once the motherboard repairs were complete, we powered up the meter.

The screen finally lit up again — confirming that the unit had been successfully revived.

5. Final Assembly + Proper Waterproofing

After restoring full functionality, we sealed the meter tightly using improved waterproofing methods to prevent future failures.

Final Result: A Completely Dead Meter Brought Back to Life

We successfully restored:

  • Full display clarity
  • Bright and even backlight
  • Accurate reading output
  • Smooth, stable functioning

When the customer saw the meter glowing again, he said:

“I never thought this meter would work again. Thank you so much.”

The entire repair cost him far less than buying a new OEM meter, making the restoration even more meaningful.
