Mercedes-Benz has officially introduced the 2026 GLB, and this new generation brings its most significant upgrade since the model’s debut. Built on the brand-new MMA (Modular Mercedes Architecture), the GLB gets a larger body, a more premium interior, and a major push toward electrification. Globally, the new GLB will first launch as an EV, followed by hybrid and petrol versions.

4. India Launch: What to Expect

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the new GLB will come to India, but with the following notes:

  • It will arrive as a CBU import.
  • India will not receive EV variants initially.
  • Only petrol and diesel engines are expected at launch.
  • The GLB will continue as a compact luxury 7-seater, a rare configuration in its segment.

The award was accepted by Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, from Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director of JK Tyre & Industries, the long-time sponsor of ICOTY.

For Mahindra, the XEV 9e’s success validates its transition from a traditional SUV brand to a serious premium electric SUV player, capable of taking on established global EV manufacturers.
