Renault India has officially released the first teaser of the all-new Duster, confirming its long-awaited comeback in the Indian market. Branded with the tagline “Reliving the Icon”, the teaser locks in January 26, 2026 as the global India debut date.
While the third-generation Duster is already on sale internationally under both Renault and Dacia badges, the latest teaser makes one thing clear — India is getting a distinctly customised version, developed to better suit local tastes and segment expectations.

India-Spec Renault Duster: What’s Different?
Although the teaser keeps most details under wraps, several key India-only design upgrades are clearly visible.
Connected LED Tail Lamps
Unlike the international model’s Y-shaped tail lights, the India-spec Duster features a full-width connected LED light bar at the rear. This is a strong visual upgrade and aligns perfectly with current SUV design trends in India.
Eyebrow-Style DRLs
At the front, the Duster adopts eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs that also function as turn indicators. This replaces the Y-shaped DRL signature seen on global versions and gives the SUV a sharper, more premium face.
More Rugged Road Presence
The silhouette confirms classic Duster traits:
- Tall roof rails
- Pronounced wheel arch cladding
- Muscular proportions
- New-generation Renault logo (recently introduced on the Triber facelift)
Together, these changes suggest Renault is positioning the Duster as a more premium and urban-friendly SUV, without diluting its rugged DNA.
Platform and Manufacturing
The new Duster is based on the CMF-B modular platform, shared within the Renault–Nissan Alliance.
This architecture will also underpin the upcoming Nissan Tekton, Duster’s sister SUV. Both models will be manufactured at Renault-Nissan’s Chennai facility, catering to Indian buyers as well as export markets.
Expected Engine Options for India
Renault has not officially confirmed powertrain details yet, but industry reports strongly indicate a multi-engine strategy.
Turbo-Petrol Lineup
- 1.3-litre Turbo-Petrol
Expected output: ~156 hp
Gearboxes: 6-speed manual and CVT
This will likely be the flagship engine. - 1.0-litre Turbo-Petrol
Based on the Kiger’s engine but possibly retuned
Positioned as the entry-level option.
Hybrid on the Horizon
Renault is expected to introduce a 1.6-litre strong-hybrid powertrain (140 hp+) roughly 12 months after launch, targeting rivals like the Grand Vitara and Hyryder.
AWD Still Alive?
Given the Duster’s legacy, an AWD variant is highly anticipated — likely paired with the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Interior and Feature Expectations
For its India comeback, Renault is expected to push the Duster upmarket to compete directly with segment leaders.

Likely Feature Highlights
- 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- 7-inch digital instrument cluster
- Ventilated front seats
- Panoramic sunroof
- Powered driver’s seat
Safety Package
- 6 airbags as standard
- 360-degree camera
- TPMS
- Level 2 ADAS suite
If confirmed, this would mark a massive leap from the previous-generation Duster.
Pricing and Rivals
The 2026 Renault Duster is expected to be priced between ₹10 lakh and ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in the heart of India’s most competitive SUV segment.
Key Rivals
- Hyundai Creta
- Kia Seltos
- Tata Sierra (new-gen)
- Maruti Suzuki Victoris
- Skoda Kushaq
- Volkswagen Taigun
GadiGarage Take
The original Duster created the compact SUV segment in India back in 2012. By choosing Republic Day 2026 for its comeback, Renault is clearly betting on nostalgia, strength, and national relevance.
With India-specific design tweaks, turbo-petrol power, AWD potential, and a future hybrid option, the new Duster looks ready for a serious second innings.
So, what do you think — can the all-new Renault Duster reclaim its throne from the Creta and Seltos? Would you choose it over today’s segment leaders? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
